The Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership removes tariffs on 90 percent of imported goods among signatory nations within 20 years.
RCEP covers the Association of Southeast Asian Nations -- Australia, China, Japan, New Zealand, and South Korea.
The government stresses safeguards are in place against possible spikes in imports due to the deal.
